Compton, Martin | 20/01/92
Position: Goalkeeper
Such was Martin’s ability between the sticks, FC MMIX had actually tried to sign him for 2009/10 after he had broken through onto the South Midlands scene with Old Bradwell United at the age of just 17, but he had already been snapped up elsewhere. One year later he was an official MMIX player and committed to the forthcoming season.
FC MMIX debut: July 2010, vs The Dixon XI (8-2 victory)
Last appearance: October 2010, vs FC Lifesearch (6-1 defeat)
Total FC MMIX appearances: 10 (0 goals)
During the opening stages of 2010/11, Martin looked like he may have been the final piece of the puzzle with a series of superb displays between the sticks meant that MMIX lost only 1 of 7 games during their pre-season schedule. But his form began to drop and his performances became erratic and after he failed to arrive for the Berks + Bucks County Cup game against FC Disraeli – the second time he had failed to report for duty in quick succession – he was immediately released and replaced by Michael Morton, and Martin never featured for FC MMIX again.
