Carey, Luke | DOB: May 9th, 1991
FC MMIX debut: August 2009, vs MKXI (8-2 victory)
After an impressive youth spell with Wolverton Tigermoths, Luke came to the management’s attention while playing in the South Spartan Midlands League with Old Bradwell United. Despite being not quite 18-years-old at the time, Luke featured several times for the first team and showed real promise and potential – mainly in the left-back position – and was quickly snapped up as a result.
Total 2009/10 appearances: 17 (1 goal)
One of the most self-confident members of the squad, Luke earned rave reviews as the season commenced and began in fine form, featuring in 13 of the first 15 fixtures in all competitions – scoring in the first game of the season – before appearing more sporadically in 2010 due to work commitments. Initially signing as a left-back, he also featured at right-back, in the heart of the defence and on the left wing before turning his attention to the holding midfield role in the final two games of the season – against Willen and Wolverton Town – with some aplomb.
Total 2010/11 appearances: 29 (2 goals)
Initially beginning 2010/11 as a holding midfielder, Luke actually scored the very first goal of the season with a 25-yard drive before going on to feature in a whole host of positions including wing-back and centre-back, as well as an out and out winger in the 4-1 defeat to Kiln Farm in September 2010. A regular in the matchday squad who found himself used mainly as a utility player, Luke featured in 25 of the last 27 games of the season and played a key part in the Bill Johnson Supplementary Cup final victory, coming on late on to help ensure the victory.
