Burnikell, Richard | DOB Unknown
FC MMIX debut: August 2009, vs MKXI (8-2 victory)
A truly deadly striker with an exceptional eye for goal, Rich was identified as a necessity in the MMIX squad after just the first trial session after an extremely impressive showing. Strong, competitive, dedicated as well as lightning fast – and with previous experience with likes of Inter Inchley – he was a necessity in the squad as he remained MMIX’s best and most likely chance of breaking down the opposition.
Total 2009/10 appearances: 19 (24 goals)
2009/10 was a real tale of 2 halves for Rich. He began the season in blistering form, having netted 18 goals by the beginning of November including hat-tricks against MKXI, Machzone and Yardley Athletic – and he even topped the MK Sunday League goalscoring charts at one point early on. But an injury sustained in early November kept him out for almost 2 months, and he struggled to re-find his earlier form but did manage to net 6 more goals while featuring less often in the match day squad due to work commitments.
Total 2010/11 appearances: 13 (22 goals)
After a handful of appearances in pre-season, including the 6-1 victory over Kings Arms where he netted a brace, Rich was unavailable for selection until the New Year after failing to complete his registration. His first involvement in 2011 was as an unused substitute in the 2-2 draw with the Open University in January, before going on to start 11 of the final 14 games of the season and he netted 19 goals in the process including an amazing 4 goals in the 4-3 victory over Kings Arms, as well as another 4 in the 5-3 Alf Carter Cup semi-final victory over AFC Santander in early May, to once again end as the top goalscorer despite having missed over 60% of the season.
