Pre-season is now complete, with FC MMIX having competed in an impressive 7 fixtures in just over 6 weeks as they looked to prepare for the upcoming 2010/11 league campaign. It’s been an impressive and eye opening pre-season, though, with MMIX winning 6 of the 7 games and losing just the one.
It began with an 8-2 victory over The Dixon XI, before respective 6-1 victories over Loughton Athletic and Kings Arms (formerly Machzone) – two sides that FC MMIX will face up against in Division One this season. They then defeated local side P+MM by an amazing 13-0 scoreline, before suffering a real blip as they lost 3-1 to FC Lifesearch (another side that they will face up against in the league this year). A 9-0 victory over the Old Bradwell United Veterans was followed by a decisive – if slightly unconvincing – 3-1 victory over MKDSAFC to make it 6 wins from 7 and end the pre-season schedule.
In those 7 games, 24 players have been used including new signings Graham Anderson, Karl Jones, Darryl ‘Darcy’ Wilson, Pat Cass, Shane Maynard and Martin Compton.
And most impressively, FC MMIX have netted 46 times (at an average of 6.57 goals per game) and conceded just 8. Leading the scoring charts is Des Clark with 9 goals before Will Wright who has 6, Shane who has 5, Graham and Darcy who have 4, Rich Burnikell with 3, Luke Carey, Pat, Joe Meddings, Mikey Lacey and Scott Page with 2 and David Bird, Mo Page, Jake Jeffery and Ian Gray with 1 each. The 46th goal was credited as an OG.
It’s going to be long, hard season. So let’s get on it.
